On Google Chrome

Fast, secure and very interactive, Google Chrome is my best web browser. There are several reasons that make Chrome my best browser both for surfing the web and developing web applications. I will briefly discuss some of these reasons and then explain in what ways I think Chrome can become an Integral part of life in Africa.

I am one of those in Africa to have had access to the internet on older versions of other browsers. Even though many of these browsers have improved in speed and interactivity over the years, in my own view, Chrome has overrun other browsers in terms of Adaptability, Interactivity, Ease of upgrade, and Security. With Chrome’s internal PDF support I can easily convert and save files as PDF. My experience with web application development began in October 2010 and my tutor advised me to use Chrome because of its interactive developer tools. My love for Google Chrome grew fast and it took a great leap when I started developing applications with AJAX technology in mid 2011. Sections of the developer tool such as the Error Console, Resources and Network are priceless to the development time and memory efficiency of my web applications.

In Africa, Chrome can be vital in the lives of Developers and other Web Users alike. The average Web User is likely interested in resourceful use of his time online. Chrome can assist him with functions such as the Omnibox, ability to disable multiple JavaScript alert popup and form auto fill. The Google Auto Updater ensures that the browser is up to date with regard to Security. Furthermore, Google Chrome’s ever expanding support for HTML 5 gives users the privilege of viewing web content in a stylish, interactive way.

Every year in Africa, new beginners in web development are produced by a combination of Individual Learning, knowledge imparted through Tertiary Institutions and help from IT Training Centers scattered across the continent. Some of my colleagues and acquaintances,  who are involved in Web Application (Web App) Development and had little or no prior experience with Chrome, were elated when I introduced Chrome to them and many have started using it for web application development. I am optimistic that Google Chrome would eventually become the choice Browser tool for Web App developers in Africa.

Chrome is already an Integral part of my life as a Web User and Web App developer. Though, I must say that many Internet users in Africa are either unaware of Google Chrome or are simply ignorant of its advantages. One way I believe this issue can be addressed is through individual recommendation, seminars, workshops and well targeted advert campaigns. In addition to the above, I believe that with conscious effort and determination on the part of Google and other stakeholders Google Chrome can become an integral part of life in Africa.

A brief one

It's been ages since my last blog post. Though not so long ago since my last FB post or my last upload on IG.

I guess I need to post here more often.

What happened to the writer in me? Did the coder cast it aside? Is it still here somewhere?
